It’s this stirring in my heart. Something deep in my soul that draws me in. My journey in photography has taken some twists and turns, but my heart has always been drawn to this.

I am slightly fearful of putting myself out there on this journey. I’m not typically one to do that, probably for fear of failure. But I’d rather passionately pursue something I love, and risk failing, than never even try. And I know that if it’s the plan God has for me, He’ll open the doors. If it’s not, then I’m trusting Him for the better plan, the one I can’t see clearly yet.

Last week I applied for an opportunity to take time off work for volunteer work. The work I’m applying for is humanitarian photojournalism for a great organization called Food for the Hungry. It will be a difficult test of patience and faith over the next 3 1/2 months while I wait for acceptance, but I’ve given it to God and I have a peace in my heart. Whether I get it or not, I’m trusting in God and I know it’s His plan.
