About Naomi Figueroa Photography

Traveling. Farmer‘s markets. Changing of seasons. Latin America. Cooking. The color blue (definitely not pink). Maine. Fresh fruits and veggies. Photography. Big dogs (if you‘re going to be a dog, be a DOG). Writing. The smell of pine trees. Jesus. Teenagers. Speaking Spanish (or trying, at least). Learning. Fair trade coffee. Dancing salsa with my husband. Nature. Family.

Just a few snippets of my life, but it all comes out in my photography because it is part of who I am. The why of everything I do is to bring glory to God. He is the ultimate Creative and the reason that we have this wonderful gift of being able to create, whether our medium is art or language or technology or music.

I‘m so glad you stopped by my blogsite. I hope you‘ll enjoy exploring a bit. Leave some love in the comments, or send me a note on the contact page! :D

Welcome to Pottstown

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Pottstown, Pennsylvania…It’s an interesting city. Or, as I was told by an interesting character today as I was walking downtown, “It aint no city. It’s a township.” At first it seemed quite boring, even ugly, to me. The more I’ve been here, though, the more intriguing it is. I love “old” things–signs, pictures, roads…I love to wonder what it used to be like. That’s what I feel like when I drive down High Street, and so I thought I’d give you a little tour.

Nature Project, Continued

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Hey everyone! Well, I’m back to work full-swing, dreaming about photography all the day long. BUT, it’s still somewhat cold here in the Northeast (though thankfully beginning to warm up!), so unfortunately I haven’t been outside too much taking pictures lately. So, I decided to post a few more from the Nature Project I’ve been working on. This project keeps me excited wherever I drive–I’m ALWAYS seeing things where nature is being torn down, or else it’s doing the tearing down itself. It’s amazing how nature doesn’t need huge machines to destroy something–all it needs is a little blade of grass. I imagine God chuckles when we build such massive structures, and His simple, tiny, soft plants just crack open the hardest sidewalks. Well, man’s foolishness sure keeps me chuckling, and that’s why I’m so intrigued by this project. I’m sure it will be ongoing. ;)

Vacation's Over

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Well, it’s time to go back to work after a week of vacation. Rich and I both had the week off, and we relaxed a bit but also got a lot accomplished, as we stayed in town. We FINALLY got rid of the horrible pink paint in the spare room, though we are still in the process of getting the blue painted onto where it used to be. We did a few other things around the house as well.
I also have been diving into learning more about photography. This week I wrote down a learning plan–week by week, the things I’m going to study. I found a great site for business topics, http://www.score.org/index.html because I don’t know much about the business aspect of photography. I also plan to work on one photography project per week. This week it was something I’ve been thinking about for a LONG time…it’s basically two series that go together called “Nature, Interrupted” and “Nature, Interrupting.” It’s something I find intriguing to look for as I drive, but I don’t often get to actually stop and take pictures of it. Well, I didn’t finish the project this week, but I got the ball rolling. Here’s a couple of shots I got:
