About Naomi Figueroa Photography

Traveling. Farmer‘s markets. Changing of seasons. Latin America. Cooking. The color blue (definitely not pink). Maine. Fresh fruits and veggies. Photography. Big dogs (if you‘re going to be a dog, be a DOG). Writing. The smell of pine trees. Jesus. Teenagers. Speaking Spanish (or trying, at least). Learning. Fair trade coffee. Dancing salsa with my husband. Nature. Family.

Just a few snippets of my life, but it all comes out in my photography because it is part of who I am. The why of everything I do is to bring glory to God. He is the ultimate Creative and the reason that we have this wonderful gift of being able to create, whether our medium is art or language or technology or music.

I‘m so glad you stopped by my blogsite. I hope you‘ll enjoy exploring a bit. Leave some love in the comments, or send me a note on the contact page! :D

A Glimpse of Spring

Monday, January 18th, 2010

As I peered out my kitchen window to check on our dog this afternoon (as she enjoys finding ways to escape our fenced-in yard), I quite literally laughed out loud. Now, it’s not an unusual occurrence for me to see Sabana doing something humorous out there–watching her play in a foot and a half of snow was quite amusing; yesterday, she “located” Rich’s lost set of keys and was quite content to chew on them for some time; but today…today was well worth a picture.

Mind you, she is still a puppy and does not like to sit still…nor has she quite learned not to jump up. With a treat, I managed to get away unscathed.

Pet Portrait

In just four months of owning a dog, I’ve:

-scooped more poop than I’d care to know
-come home to a kitchen floor covered in trash (you can ask my hubby about that “no crate” experiment)
-used more paper towels to clean up piddles on the floor than I would like to admit
-yelled “No!” more than I probably ever did in the past 25 years total
-read a LOT of Cesar Milan
-fished what I thought was a clump of grass out of her mouth, only to find out that little Bunny Foo Foo was scooping up field mice, bopping them on the head, and leaving them unconscious in our back yard so my little Sabana could try to eat them for a snack
-purchased countless rawhide bones for this little chewer

And bones…bones have been my biggest ally! Since Saturday, she went through 3 regular sized rawhide bones. (ps…it’s only Wednesday!) If she’s a bit rowdy, I can usually give her a new bone, and she’ll settle in to chew and chew for hours. Thank goodness for bones!

She was rather concerned that kitty wanted to take her bone…
