About Naomi Figueroa Photography

Traveling. Farmer‘s markets. Changing of seasons. Latin America. Cooking. The color blue (definitely not pink). Maine. Fresh fruits and veggies. Photography. Big dogs (if you‘re going to be a dog, be a DOG). Writing. The smell of pine trees. Jesus. Teenagers. Speaking Spanish (or trying, at least). Learning. Fair trade coffee. Dancing salsa with my husband. Nature. Family.

Just a few snippets of my life, but it all comes out in my photography because it is part of who I am. The why of everything I do is to bring glory to God. He is the ultimate Creative and the reason that we have this wonderful gift of being able to create, whether our medium is art or language or technology or music.

I‘m so glad you stopped by my blogsite. I hope you‘ll enjoy exploring a bit. Leave some love in the comments, or send me a note on the contact page! :D

Dana and Kyle│Engagement│Pottstown Portrait Photography

Monday, June 20th, 2011

After a long Friday at work, she was more than ready to go home.  A text from Kyle let her know that the night might be longer than she anticipated. “My car is broken down…can you come pick me up?” It was on her way home from work anyway, so she figured it would be no biggie. She quickly replied and headed to where he was waiting.

When she arrived at the parking lot of the place they had their first date, he was already walking towards her car with his bag in hand. He hopped in, eagerly, but she was still none-the-wiser. Before she was able to put her hands on the wheel, he reached over to stop her from driving. ”This is the place where I met the girl of my dreams, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me, Dana?”

Oh, as Dana was telling me the story I was just overwhelmed with joy and happiness for both of them. Every couple’s proposal story is different and uniquely beautiful. Dana knew that a proposal was coming. She kept wondering if it was around this corner or that, whenever they were doing something special. The absolute most romantic thing Kyle could have done was to completely blindside her and get her when she was least expecting it. Boy, was she surprised!

I’ve known Dana for a few years now, and Kyle for the past 8 months or so, and I have enjoyed seeing them grow as individuals and as a couple. I am so incredibly happy for them and completely humbled that they’ve given me the honor of capturing their wedding day. We had an absolute blast on the engagement shoot, and I was lucky to have my amazing hubby along as an assistant. Dana and Kyle were both such troopers in the hot weather, and I hope these photographs are a great payoff for them! Enjoy. :)

Oh, when they told me they brought props, I jumped up and down and squealed, “Yay!” Hehehe….even cooler, they wanted to show off their “favorite things”–photography for Dana, and baseball (specifically the Red Sox–go New England!) for Kyle.

Write LOVE on your arms

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

I love teenagers. When I think about teens I know, or about this generation in general, my heart is filled with love, grief, compassion, and a desire to just show them so much about life–that there is hope on the other end of the tunnel, that’s there’s so much to look forward to in this life, no matter where you’re at right now, and that someone loves them.

I’m stoked to spread the word and support a great organization (really a MOVEMENT), To Write Love on Her Arms, by writing LOVE on my arms on Friday, November 13th. I’m joining over 850,000 people, not as a trend or an advertisement, but as an opportunity to tell people about the depression, cutting, addictions, and suicidal thoughts that so many teens are going through, and to shout it out: THERE IS HOPE!

So, friends, will you join me?

Check out a little piece of Renee’s story (how this movement got started):

[a little info from the Facebook page]:

“To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery.

“To Write Love On Her Arms Day is a day where anyone can write the words love on their arms, to support those who are fighting against depression and those who are trying to recovering. On this day, just write love on your arms, and show it off, other people will ask why you have love written on your arms, and you tell them you are supporting to write love on her arms day, and how its benefiting a non profit organization helping stop depression, and make love the movement ♥”
